When the Student Becomes the Teacher

When I look at this photo, I see a glimpse into my future. I also think of the dozens of times I’ve had to help my mom on her computer. This Iconic Photo submission is nothing short of proof that our path in life will mature over time yet history will shine in a new light: when the student becomes the teacher. Stacie Jensen of Colorvale® submitted this photo she snapped on a recent vacation. You can see more of this day on her site – I highly encourage you to take a peek at these photos: HERE

Here’s what Stacie had to say about this photo and why it is iconic to her:

This photo is something that creates a deep feeling of love, family, time, and patience.  Iconic is best described as something that lasts a lifetime and this photo demonstrates a father and son’s relationship and tinkering with household chores.  It also encompasses the reversal of roles.  Here my husband is fixing a weed whipper for his father which, had this been 35 years ago, my father-in-law would have been showing his young son how to instead.  As the years passed, nothing had changed, yet everything evolved.

Wife. Mother. Photographer. I’m someone who loves hard, plays carefully, and keeps one foot on the ground. Well maybe the foot part is just when one glass of wine turns into two. But really, I am someone who loves every bit of what I do and can’t wait to develop that product which changes your life!

I help client documentary photographers fine-tune their workflow + marketing game, so their work is filled with sessions that represent their voice + client values while earning a living. I shoot undirected, off-beat stories that aren’t preserved often enough (like the story of couples before starting a fam or becoming empty-nesters – a dream project of mine), so my clients’ old box of photos is a meaningful, visual diary of their life + legacy to leave behind.
