High School Photo Session Ideas

Growing up, I remember my mom saying, “I wish I could go back to high school, but knowing what I know now.” I used to roll my eyes like, “Yeah, whatever mom.” And now here I am, 10+ years after high school, and I totally get it now.

Teenagers and High School Photo Session Ideas

Countless times I’ve heard people tell me, “I wish I had little ones to photograph.” This makes me wish I had some high-schoolers around so I can prove that there are a zillion things you can photograph with them! Sure, they may not want you to drag them to some pretty location and start shooting. But they will be thankful one day for you to capture their high school memories. Their every day happenings, their milestones, their friends, their style, their favorites, and the list goes on.

I’d love for you to comment below so we can make this post full of ideas on photographing high school age teens outside of the trendy senior photo type sessions. What are your ideas? Don’t forget to Pin these or share with a photographer friend.

I help client documentary photographers fine-tune their workflow + marketing game, so their work is filled with sessions that represent their voice + client values while earning a living. I shoot undirected, off-beat stories that aren’t preserved often enough (like the story of couples before starting a fam or becoming empty-nesters – a dream project of mine), so my clients’ old box of photos is a meaningful, visual diary of their life + legacy to leave behind.
