Guest Posting in the Personal Photojournalism Blog Circle

If you’ve been a longtime follower of mine, you know how much I believe in the power of working together to put the gas pedal on personal growth. Watching photographers come together in our Facebook Group to participate in various blog circles holding themselves accountable to contribute to their (usually) monthly posts has been awesome!

This month, I’m a guest in the Personal Photojournalism blog circle and this is the theme:

“Sun is shining. Weather is sweet. Make you wanna move your dancing feet.” — Bob Marley

Before you close out this tab, be sure to check out all of the images that represent this theme! The Personal Photojournalism blog circle is a group of especially talented photographers (I’m so pumped to be guest blogging in this circle this month!). Go leave their blogs some love! First up, visit Charity Stauffer’s blog: http://charitystaufferphotography.com/summer-personal-photojournalism/

When thinking about this theme I thought about my kids running and playing outside the way kids do all summer long. Then there was this moment after bath time. They knew bedtime was around the corner. If you are a parent, you know that kids get this burst of energy at this time of day – they never want to go to bed. My son thought it was hilarious to empty the diaper cabinet. Kendall was dancing in the summer evening light and letting her wet hair whip over her head. This was my moment for the theme!

I help client documentary photographers fine-tune their workflow + marketing game, so their work is filled with sessions that represent their voice + client values while earning a living. I shoot undirected, off-beat stories that aren’t preserved often enough (like the story of couples before starting a fam or becoming empty-nesters – a dream project of mine), so my clients’ old box of photos is a meaningful, visual diary of their life + legacy to leave behind.
