Awesome Things to Know in Documentary Family Photography March 2018

In the spirit of unity + community here’s a round-up of all the things happening in the Documentary Family Photography Community in March.

Note from our Founder:

Hello my friend!

I’ll keep this quick, so you can get to the goods in this post. I’M DYING to know how we can make this better for YOU. Some ideas I have:

  1. What if I did an audio of this post? Morning announcements style like we heard from the principal in school? I could roll this baby out either on Facebook Live OR as a bonus ep in my upcoming podcast?
  2. A monthly printable of these details + checklist of possible living memories to record this month (given to our email list)?
  3. What else? What else would make this better for YOU? Tell us in the comments – I’m reading every. single. one.

Oh, and the Intentional Documentary Podcast WILL be published by the first week of April!! (!!!)

This post contains information about other businesses and our sponsors. We work hard to ensure accuracy, but please remember to check the original sources to confirm details. Prices, themes, and more are subject to change. This post also contains affiliate links.

Everything You Need to Know About Creating a Client Guide

everything you need to know about creating a client guide for photography

What I’m reading + learning:

This will be a mix of topics here – some to do with photography, most not. I’m always learning and excited to leave some nuggets here for you!

Just finished:

The Magnolia Story – You into Fixer Upper? Me too, sorta. I binge watched a bunch of eps when we temporarily had cable for a few months. Beyond Jo’s lovely design aesthetic and Chip’s FUN, never-know-what-to-expect personality, I’ve been captivated by their brand. I picked up the book about their story and read it in just a few days… it was so good! A favorite takeaway: Jo’s consistent references to how the steps in their path kept leading them to their current point that they never could have guessed / predicted / planned for.

This spoke to me, because one of the things Suze (below) has taught me is, “if you can see the whole path, it’s not yours.” As someone who’s a problem-solver / fixer, it’s hard to let go and just GO + do. But, even when I look back at my own life – from being a receptionist, helping people with self-discovery + relationships through play, and now here in Fearless and Framed®, I never guessed even just 5 years ago the this is where I’d be, yet all those thing in my past make up what today is.

Currently involved in:

Easy Peasy LOA
After doing Ease-y Money with Susan Ferraro (LIFE-CHANGING in 2017), I wanted more. I used to think manifesting was kind of… out there, but I’ve gotta tell you, I’ve never been in a better mindset than I’m in right now. It’s not even about manifesting what I want, it’s about clarity in who I am and who I’m stepping into becoming. If you’ve ever felt totally stuck, not sure of “your purpose” (or if there is such a thing), anything of Susan’s will help you get your groove back.

How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Proven to Prevent and Reverse Disease

Aside from the morbid title, this book is keeping me focused. I’ll talk about a health problem I have in an upcoming (much later) episode of Intentional Documentary, but this book is keeping me focused on eating more whole foods, cutting out the sugar + processed crap, and frankly, scaring the shit out of me (in a good way). My energy level over the past two weeks alone have skyrocketed from making simple changes to our eating lifestyle and feeling satiated, not starving or in craving mode.

  • You asked how can we make this better for you. My vote is for audio! I typically learn Best by listening. I have to admit that I have a stockpile of goodby posing guide Facebook posts that I have saved for later. Now it is so overwhelming. I’m always looking for things to listen to. I think I just like hearing the voices and the emotion and intonation behind them. That said, the way you write in actionable lists are a great follow up. I still use those too!

    • Thank you!! Would you prefer to reliably jump into your iTunes to listen (meaning, I record a special monthly podcast episode) OR would you rather watch / listen via a Facebook Live (recorded / live)?

  • I’m not familiar with listening via iTunes, but I would imagine that would be a better option. That way all podcasts are in one place. With Facebook, I don’t always know one is coming and I often miss listening to live videos of pages/people I follow. But be sure to let us know via Facebook that a new iTunes podcast is available.
